Sarris v. Curro
The plaintiff’s expert used a very broad keyword search to recover 30,124 potentially relevant files and fragments, including intact and deleted files, from Curro’s office computer. Using a variety of forensic tools and procedures that allowed him to determine the source and extension of each file located in the plaintiff’s search, DisputeSoft’s computer forensics expert G. Hunter Jones filtered this material, eliminating tens of thousands of irrelevant program snippets, help files, captured webpages, and advertisements. The defendant and counsel were then able to make determinations about the privilege and relevance of the approximately 200 remaining files, which included spreadsheets, word processor documents, and emails.
