MedCorp v. Zoll Data Systems
MedCorp, an ambulance and medical transport business, licensed Zoll’s commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) dispatch and billing software. As MedCorp’s business expanded, the resulting increase in system users and daily transaction volume led to system performance issues. MedCorp alleged that the software’s inability to handle increased demands on its system was due to Zoll’s defective database design.
DisputeSoft software failure expert Jeff Parmet performed an analysis of the Zoll software and database architecture. As detailed in Mr. Parmet’s expert and rebuttal reports, MedCorp’s system performance issues were caused by MedCorp’s failure to observe Zoll’s clearly stated specifications for both hardware configuration and current operating system and database versions.
In March 2011, the case was dismissed for failure to prosecute.
