Update: EU Council Officially Approves European Copyright Law Reforms

    On April 15, 2019, the Council of the European Union (EU) approved the new Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market.

    The Directive outlines “link tax” requirements, which state that certain service providers must give an appropriate share of their revenue to the publisher of copyrighted content, as well as “upload filter” requirements for online content-sharing service providers (OCSSPs) to obtain authorization from rightsholders or risk liability for copyright infringements on their platform.
