ZemTV Kodi Add-on Developer Ordered to Pay $650,000 Piracy Damages

    On October 24, 2018, a judge in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas ordered ZemTV developer Shahjahan Durrani to pay $650,000 to plaintiff Dish Network LLC.

    The copyright infringement lawsuit was filed in May 2017, when Dish Network alleged that Durrani developed and distributed ZemTV through open-source Kodi media player add-ons, resulting in the retransmission of copyrighted Dish Network TV channels.
