On June 28, 2021, four class action lawsuits were filed against San Diego based health care system Scripps Health, due to a recent ransomware attack that compromised personal identifiable information (PII) of nearly 150,000 Scripps’ patients, putting them at risk of identity theft and fraud.
Plaintiffs allege that Scripp Health failed to adhere to various state and federal data privacy, protection, and security regulations connected to protecting the personal and medical privacy of their patients.
