Alarm.com Denied Retrial of Patent Infringement Case

On September 9, 2019, a judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware denied home and business security company Alarm.com’s request for retrial against B2B software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions company SecureNet Technologies in a patent infringement dispute regarding home security and automation networking.

In March 2019, Alarm.com requested a retrial “on the basis that erroneous claim constructions and expert testimony made before the jury led to the noninfringement verdict.” In denying Alarm.com’s request, the court upheld a February 8, 2019 jury verdict which found that SecureNet had not infringed upon Alarm.com’s touchscreen and server technologies.
