On September 11, 2018, streaming device manufacturer TickBox TV LLC agreed to a $25 million settlement to end a software copyright infringement dispute after a judge in the U.S District Court for the Central District of California issued a permanent injunction ordering TickBox to remove and disable software linking to pirated content.
The case began in October 2017, after Amazon, Netflix, and several movie studios alleged that TickBox used add-on software that directed users to watch online video from sources which infringed copyrights.
