Apple Ordered to Pay $145M in Damages for Infringing on Wireless Communication Patents

    On August 1, 2018, a jury in the U.S District Court for the Southern District of California awarded Canadian patent licensing company WiLAN $145.1 million in damages from Apple for infringement of two patents related to wireless communications technology.

    Apple previously defeated similar claims filed by WiLAN in a separate dispute, and confirmed that it will appeal this ruling.
